NEW INSTRUCTIONS DIRECTLY FROM PROTEUS
=======================================================
How to create a bootable usb from the files on the CD.
=======================================================
*** Warning: All data on the stick will be erased. ***
-------------------------------------------------------
Linux Method
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Boot to Parted Magic Linux from the CD (5th option of the main menu).
2. Open a console window (LxTerminal).
3. Insert an at least 2Gb USB stick.
The total size needed is 1.6 Gb
The rest is available to store other files.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Note.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In the following commands replace the xx's with what is
appropriate for your USB stick. e.g. sdb1 or sdc1.
If you do not know them, find the correct device letters with:
fdisk -l or fsarchiver probe
*** Warning: If you get the xx's wrong you may hose a hard disk. ***
------------------------------------------------------------------
4. umount /dev/sdxx (In case the usb has been automounted)
5. mkfs.vfat -F32 -n HBCD /dev/sdxx (Format the stick)
6. mkdir /mnt/cdrom (Create a cd mountpoint)
7. mount /dev/sdxx /mnt/usb (Mount the stick)
8. mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom (Mount the CDROM)
9. cp -Rfv /mnt/cdrom/* /mnt/usb/ (Copy files to the stick. Wait...)
10. syslinux -i -d isolinux /dev/sdxx (Install syslinux in the stick)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Note.
------------------------------------------------------------------
In the next two commands it must be a device sdb or sdc et.c.
*not* a partition sdb1 or sdc1 et.c
------------------------------------------------------------------
11. dd if=/usr/share/syslinux/mbr.bin of=/dev/sdx (Copy MBR to stick)
12. parted /dev/sdx set 1 boot on (Make sure the stick is active i.e. bootable)
13. sync (Flush any buffered data)
14. Reboot the computer and test the stick for booting.
-------------------------------------------------------
Windows Method (NEW!!!)
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Boot HBCD, select "Mini Windows XP"
and connect a USB stick (2Gb or more)
2. Run USB Format Tool (HBCD Menu->Programs->Partition/Boot/MBR)
and format the stick.
To see how to use the tool refer to Hiren's USB installation Page:
http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd-on-usb-disk.
3. Determine the letters of the CD and USB drives (Look in My Computer).
4. Copy all the files from CD to USB.
For this you may to use one of the utilities found
in the HBCD like FastCopy, TeraCopy or Total Commander
or the dos command: 'xcopy R:\*.* U:\ /E' (Where R is the CD drive
letter and U is the USB).
5. Download the bootloader installer syslinux (for windows) from Hirens page:
http://www.hiren.info/download/dos-files/syslinux.zip
and extract the executable 'syslinux.exe' somewhere (e.g. in B:\Temp\).
(Note: The rest of the contents of the archive are not needed.)
6. Open a command prompt, go to B:\Temp, and give the command:
syslinux.exe -imaf -d isolinux X:
where X is the letter of the USB stick.
7. Safely remove the stick and test for booting.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Note.
------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also the utility RMPepUSB (in Partition/Boot/MBR) which
in theory can format, copy the files, and install the bootloader
in one go - no need to download anything.
However it is unknown which version of syslinux installs
(we need > 4.0) and it is a rather awkward program to use.

We?ll even cover the assignment operator, various ways you can use to compare data, and PHP?s only ternary operator
You can begin variable names with letters and this one character
You can?t name your own variable by this name, otherwise you?ll drive yourself nuts trying to figure out what?s wrong with your code
The absolute most important thing you must do to your variables? not doing so could let others access your data!

How to group variables with strings? If you want to print a variable inside a string, you must do this one thing, otherwise PHP will print nothing!
How to concatenate strings
Creating and using arrays
Advanced Topic: Creating and using dynamic variables (variables of variables)
Day 4: Unit 4
Control Structures and Conditionals
(Loops and If-Statements)
The ?while? loop?and how to write it two different ways
The ?do-while? loop?and its alternative

How to make your code easier to read so you can come back to it days, weeks, or even years later and still know what it does and how it does it
How to divide and conquer big problems into smaller and easier-to-read code functions? This alone will eliminate a ton of frustration when writing complicated code. What?s complicated in theory is easy with PHP?after learning from OnlinePHPClass.com
The difference between the 4 ways to reference include files? You wouldn?t want your code to continue if your database weren?t available, now would you?
Why it is critical to know how PHP treats variables in reusable code? If you don?t know this, you?ll pull your hair out, wondering why variables aren?t being set to what you expect
The importance of variable scope within functions? If you want a function to access variables created outside of the function, you must use this keyword
Day 6: Unit 6
Forms: Data In, Data Out, Sanitizing
Learn how to create an HTML form, supercharged with PHP, to communicate with the visitors of your site
We?ll cover textboxes, checkboxes, combo boxes (drop-down menus), radio buttons, submit and reset buttons, and more
The one thing you must always remember when using radio buttons
Learn how to make your form work, even if you rename the script

Day 9: Unit 8
Advanced Forms: Pre-population and Pre-selection
We take Unit 6 to the next level?
Learn how to create HTML form elements that utilize data from MySQL through PHP code
Create dynamically-populated form elements that come pre-selected to the correct values
How to pre-populate and pre-select with textboxes, checkboxes, combo boxes (drop-down menus), radio buttons, submit buttons, reset buttons, and text areas
How to use checkbox arrays to make multi-variable selection even easier? PHP makes it simple, and I?ll show you how to do it.
Days 10 and 11: Unit 9
Sessions and Cookies
Take your dynamic websites to the next level with user sessions and cookies
You?ll learn how to ask a user to login to your site and how to verify their login credentials
